Challenge:
After being hired in January, the School District expressed their primary goal for the project, to play their first home game in September on the new field.
Solution/What Worked:
In order to accomplish the School Districts goal, the design and decision making process needed to streamlined. Numerous design meetings were held with board members, the athletic director and superintendent to discuss and decide on the type of turf, layout of the track and field events, graphics, color scheme, other design elements, procurement and delivery method of the project. The commitment of the District and design team to the end goal resulted in the project being able to start construction immediately after school was completed and the school did not only play their first game on the field, the had their first practices in August on the new field.
Fun Fact:
The spring following construction of the field was very late and wet, so the School District plowed the snow off the turf field, put up temporary fence and practiced softball on the field.
