Westbrook Water Treatment Plant
Westbrook, MN
Project Recap

This project involved the design and construction of a new water treatment plant to replace an outdated, underperforming facility. The new plant significantly improves treatment reliability, operational efficiency, and long-term system performance.

The facility features a 140 GPM gravity filtration system integrated with a reverse osmosis (RO) treatment system. A key project challenge was successfully incorporating both gravity filtration and RO treatment within one unified process while maintaining operational flexibility and meeting water quality requirements.

Following commissioning of the new plant, the existing water treatment facility was demolished, completing the transition to the new system.

The project also included implementation of a new SCADA and control system. The SCADA system provides centralized monitoring and control of the new water treatment plant, three remote well sites, and the water tower under a single platform. New control systems were provided for each of the remote sites.

Design Tree provided full Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering design services, including power distribution, controls and control integration, and close coordination with process and treatment equipment to deliver a complete water treatment system.
