Project Recap
Rocori High School, part of a campus that includes elementary and middle schools, faced challenges with a combined parking lot that served multiple functions—parking, parent pickup/drop-off, bus pickup/drop-off, and general circulation—all within one mass of asphalt. Design Tree partnered with the district to enhance safety, improve traffic flow, and reconstruct the hardscape and storm sewer infrastructure.
Our design approach segmented the parking lot into distinct areas to effectively manage traffic for both the High School and Middle School. Concrete medians were introduced to create protected pedestrian walkways, ensuring the safety of students and staff by segregating foot traffic from vehicle and bus traffic. By establishing separate ingress and egress points from city streets, we reduced congestion during peak traffic periods and improved overall transit safety.
This project not only improved functionality but also significantly enhanced the safety and efficiency of the school's traffic management system, showcasing Design Tree's commitment to creating better educational environments through thoughtful engineering and design.
